Wine Tasting - Bootleg Prequel

Grape Variety: Syrah
Vintage: 2016
Price: ~$25
"The 2016 Prequel Red Blend is a Syrah-dominated blend (there's 15% Petite Sirah) and offers an inky purple color as well as a big, sexy bouquet of blueberries, crushed violets, vanilla bean, and sappy herbs. This medium to full-bodied, concentrated red has bright acidity, plenty of background oak, and a good finish. It's a ripe, sexy, fruit bomb to enjoy over the coming 3-4 years."
Wine Folly Flavors
Syrah - Blueberry, black plum, milk chocolate, tobacco, green peppercorn
Overall: Dry, full body, medium-high tannins, medium acidity.
My Review
The reason I chose this bottle was solely based off the name and label. I thought it was pretty modern and it has a cool artistic look to it. The wine was full bodied with a lot of dark fruit flavors. It was actually pretty elegant but was relatively high on the tannins. There were some leathery and dirty notes in the wine as well. I enjoyed the wine and paired it with aged gouda. It was actually very good paired with aged gouda and gave it a sort of buttery texture. Overall, a solid wine especially for how much we paid for it.
